These photographs were taken while wandering in Chinese cities over the past 30 years. I've often made pictures about China while on assignment for western magazines, but these aren't about that, though those of course have their place. These are the other pictures, not meant to make any point or illustrate anything about China. But in their own way it's possible they may end up doing that anyway.
