These pictures were taken on my first visit to Hong Kong in the summer of 1974. I met some American sailors in a bar in Wanchai and asked if I could photograph them, and at some point they decided to head to a tattoo parlour nearby. Years later I ended up living in Hong Kong, from 1982-1998, and at some point made more pictures of that neighborhood, including Ricky and Pinky's. I've been unable to track those down however. Not sure when Ricky and Pinky teamed up though. I do recall the "Ricky and Pinky" sign from the 1980s, but the exterior picture of Lockhart Road here, from 1974, shows a sign for only "Pinky Tattoo". Where was Ricky at this point? Down the block perhaps?
